Thermbond in all furnaces since 1999. “We have been using Stellar Canada as our Refractory Supplier / Contractor for a period of six years. The product knowledge that they bring to the table with regards to new innovations and new technology has proved itself rewarding to Indalco Alloys. We have been using precast Ceramite slabs in the floor of our Holding furnace since February ’04. Switching to these precast slabs has allowed us to increase our furnace capacity by almost 5% without any change to our original heat profile. This entire furnace lining at last inspection in July ’06 still looked as good as it was at installation. Stellar’s Thermbond refractory products seem to maintain good non-wetting characteristics which allows us to clean the walls and floor easily which minimizes the washout requirements when changing alloys. “On the Service side of things, they have proven themselves to be extremely reliable. I have called them on a Friday when we experienced a burner failure, shut down the furnace, and had them install a new burner on Sunday and had the furnace back into full production late on Monday. With their Thermbond products the time necessary for curing the installation is minimal and this allows for quick turnaround of the furnace”.
